Head in the Clouds...
Have you heard about The Cloud yet?
In case you’ve been living under a rock, let us explain. Cloud Computing according to Wikipedia’s definition “refers to the on-demand provision of computational resources (data, software) in a computer network, rather than from a local computer. Users or clients can submit as task…without actually possessing the software or hardware.”
Have you guessed where we’re going with this?
Yep, we’re using The Cloud to improve the way we serve our customers. We’ve equipped all of our technicians with smart phones and signed up for Highrise’s fantastic online CRM software. Now, every time a technician does a job, he takes a few minutes to plug in a few details, such as the work order number, any special parts used, driving directions, a photo of the site…anything that might come in handy later on, and all of the information can instantly be viewed by our friendly office staff or other technicians.
This means that we always have a detailed service record at our fingertips, we are always totally prepared to complete your job and we don’t waste time phoning back to the shop for a missed part, or circling your block looking for a hidden driveway. In short, Cloud Computing saves you Big Money!
This is just one of the many ways Techlectric is embracing the latest technology to create the ultimate customer experience! Feel free to stop by our shop on 10th Avenue across from Buckerfield’s, or even start a conversation with us on Facebook if you would like to know more.

What is Home Control?
Music
Can you play the blues on your living stereo, classical in the kitchen, and rap in your child’s bedroom; all while controlling it from your bed, or even your office? Connect your iPod/mp3 player, external hard drive, computer, or even online radio, because if you want it, it can be done.
Lighting
Tap welcome home on your phone on your way down the road to light up your walkway and entrance, plus turn on all the lights you normally use on your way in the door. Press “Good Night”, some lights will go completely off, and the child’s room will dim to 10%. Want to save a couple bucks, set all your lights maximum level to 80%, your eyes won’t notice a difference, but your utility bill sure will!
Home Theatre
Want to watch a movie? Enter the room and have your pathway lit up, TV and Blu-Ray player turn on, even have the popcorn start popping while you insert your movie. Access all your movies with a multi-disc changer, iPod, or NAS drive from one interface, and search by cover art. Your movie watching simplified, yet more sophisticated.
What is Commercial Control
Control your Business
From a massive multi-million dollar complex to a small retail center, every business needs a “control freak.” On top of automating lights, shades, music, video, HVAC, security and energy, Control4 also gives you the ability to control it all from a secure, back-end system. Better still, it’s not just affordable—it’s intelligent. Because our Control4 commercial solutions can easily integrate with your existing business networks and enable communication between devices from virtually any manufacturer (we believe in open systems), we ensure that you experience bottom-line benefits sooner rather than later.
Save Money and the Planet at the same time!
Did you know that setting your lights at 90%, will save you 10% and your bulbs will last 2 times longer? When set at 50%, you get 40% savings and your bulbs last 20 times longer! Let your eyes take in a lighter load all while saving money. With complete control of your heat and air conditioning, have your house reach the right temperature as you walk in the door, not while you’re away.
Your Savings
Energy represents as much as 30% of a building's operating expense. You can reduce energy and save big $$ each month on utility bills by controlling air conditioning, heating and lighting. Plus with the use of ZigBee Pro technology, you can reduce the need for new wiring, so you can finish the job much more quickly, while saving on wire, conduit and labour costs.
So…What do you want to control? It’s
up to you

NEW BRANCH
Article published by the Columbia Valley Pioneer
By Kelsey Verboom
A new, full-service electrical contractor is
turning up the voltage in the valley.
Techlectric, whose main branch is in Salmon Arm, have expanded their business and have chosen the Columbia Valley to do so.
Although the company only arrived in Invermere one month ago, they’ve already expanded from two to eight local technicians and are looking to hire more, said founder and president of 18 years, Brad Handel.
Techlectric also brought $200,000 worth of inventory with them to better serve their clients and other local contractors.
“We’ve made a pretty serious commitment about moving into the valley,” Brad said. “So far, it seems to be a pretty warm welcoming.”
Techlectric handles all aspects of electrical installations and wiring in residential and commercial structures. “We do everything from single and multi-family homes, to commercial and industrial projects,” Brad said. “We’re also licensed and bonded security and low voltage system contractors.
“We’re qualified to install and plan custom home theatres, security and surveillance systems, business telephones, as well as home automation and lighting control.”
What sets Techlectric apart, Brad said, is their ability to diversify. “Instead of hiring an electrician to do wiring, then a separate person for installations, we can do it all at once.”
Brad is based in Salmon Arm, so he’s partnered with local man Derek Bay to oversee operations in the valley. Derek grew up in Fairmont and Canal Flats with his parents, Bruce and Kim Bay. He’s been in the industry for over 10 years, and with Techlectric for six.
“We have all the necessary resources available to us,” Derek said. “Our intention is to work with the local contractors and electrical contractors to ensure that work is kept locally.”
Derek plans to continue the high level of service that Brad said founded his business. Techlectric gives free estimates and aims for a two to three-day turnaround from the estimate to beginning work.
“For us, it’s all about service,” Brad explained. “We’re very structured and organized. All our contractors say we give them the best service of any subcontractor.”
